What is the duration of treatment?

The duration of treatment varies depending on your specific needs.

Hair regrowth diminishes with each treatment, but the number of sessions required depends on the hair type and colour, the area treated, and the

patient’s skin phototype.

Do I have to grow out my hair to have laser hair removal done?

NO! The best part of having Laser done is that once you finally decide to take that step you never have to look at that unsightly hair again! You must avoid bleaching, plucking, threading and waxing hair for 4-8 weeks prior to treatment (depending on the area). The only thing allowed is shaving or triming. You can also shave in between treatments, and this will not affect the Laser or make the hair any stronger. Plucking or waxing can cause stimulation of new hair growth in hormonal areas such as the chin & upper lip.

What to expect during the session

The patient and practitioner must wear eye protection to protect their eyes from the laser beam.

A topical anaesthetic cream can be purchased and applied one hour before.

A hand-piece is placed on the area to be treated. This delivers the laser pulse.

Treatment can take anywhere from ten minutes to over an hour, depending on the size of the area being treated.

Is it painful?

Aftercare Tips

The procedure is relatively fast and effective. You should experience redness and light swelling depending on the sensitivity of their skin. If you experience these symptoms, don’t worry—they’re completely normal and temporary. Some patients will experience a hive like response, although lighter hair may not respond as significantly. If your skin feels irritated after a laser hair removal treatment, apply a topical cortisone cream or a cool compress to the area. Avoid exercise, hot tubs and hot baths for the first 24 hours after a treatment. Avoid excessive sun exposure for two weeks after the treatment, and always apply sunscreen before sun exposure.

What do I expect during my laser hair removal treatment?

Before beginning a laser hair removal treatment, laser technician at Just For You Spa & Salon will consult with you to determine the best course of action based on your hair and skin tone evaluation, complete a medical history questionnaire, perform a patch test and determine the fee structure according to your needs.

What is the treatment interval?

As a rule re-treatment intervals are:

– Face/Axilla/Bikini: 4-6 weeks

– Trunk: 8-10 weeks

– Arms & Legs: 10-12 weeks Or within 7 days of when re-growth is observed.

How many treatments do I need?

After 4-6 treatments, most people experience permanent hair reduction in the targeted areas. Your age, skin tone, hair colour and targeted area are all considered when determining the length of time required to see permanent effects. Different areas have different density percentages of hair per square inch in the Anagen Phase (growing phase) at any given time:

– Face, Axilla, Bikini have approximately 20-35%

– Trunk and Extremities have approximately 10-20%

Regular Maintenance treatments are required to maintain results.

Why does it take a number of laser hair removal treatments to clear unwanted hair?

Multiple treatments are required to achieve full hair removal. This is because hair grows in three stages

Anagen Phase: This is the hair’s growth stage. Hair is its thickest and darkest at this point so laser treatments are most effective.

Catagen Phase: This is the transitional stage of hair growth in which hair begins to loosen from its follicle.

Telogen Phase: This is the shedding stage of hair growth in which hair falls out to make room for new growth.

Therefore, only in the growing phase does the hair contain enough pigment to absorb sufficient energy to disable the hair follicle. When hair is in the dormant phase, it has little or no pigment, and it cannot absorb the laser light. When you come in to Just For You for your treatment, we disable all of the hair follicles with actively growing hair in the treatment area. A few weeks later, some of your dormant hairs will have moved into the actively growing stage, and you will come in for a treatment to disable those. As this cycle gets repeated, you experience increasing reduction of hair.
